Component variants, a faster help center, and no sign-out during outages

In TeleportHQ's 28 October 2026 release, component variants work end to end, from the editor to the published site. Blog and help center search finds what readers are looking for, big help centers publish in a fraction of the time, and a server outage no longer signs you out.

Component variants, end to end

A component variant is one component whose look is picked by a setting: a button with a primary, secondary, outline and link look, for example. Every copy of the component then picks its look from a list. In this release, every step of that works, in the editor, in Preview, on the published site and in exported code:

  • A class condition's value is saved even when you type it without clicking into the box first. Undo, redo and a collaborator's edits no longer bring back a condition you removed.
  • The list on a copy offers every look the component uses, plus the setting's default.
  • A default you type for a rich text setting in the Props panel reaches the component and every copy you haven't edited.
  • The value you preview a setting with while designing a component stays on the component's own canvas. Copies on your pages keep their own value, as they do in Preview and on the published site.
  • Exported code compares number and true/false settings as numbers and true/false, and counts every rule of a class condition.

You can also ask the AI Assistant for a component with several looks, for example "a button with four looks: primary, secondary, outline and link, one of each on the home page". It builds one setting that picks the look, one class per look, a text setting so each copy keeps its own label, and places the copies side by side.

See What are component variants? and How to build a button with four looks.

Password protection in Project settings

TeleportHQ's password protection now has its own section in Project settings → General, under FavIcon. It has the same controls as the Publish window, and the Logo on the password page picker below them. Password protection is available on paid plans; sites published on a trial stay behind a password. See How to password-protect your site.

Improvements

  • Blog and Help Center search: the search on your published blog or help center looks only at what readers see: the title, excerpt, tags, category, author and text. Matches in the title come first, then the excerpt. Words in a picture's file name or an old redirect address no longer bring up unrelated articles.
  • Publishing a big blog or help center: a published site now builds its 50 newest articles and every category page ahead of time, and each older article the first time someone opens it. A 486-article help center published in 99 seconds instead of 541.
  • Lighter article pages: the related, previous and next article cards, and a category page's cards, load without the full text of those articles.
  • Site search counts a help center as something to search: it adds a Help Articles section that links to your articles.
  • AI Assistant: questions about how to do something in TeleportHQ are answered from the new help center's articles. See How to ask the AI Assistant how to do something.
  • Keyboard and screen readers: every drop-down is named by its label and works with Tab and the arrow keys. On/off switches are buttons with a pressed state. The Edit Class panel closes with Escape.
  • Icons: the icons search reads spaces as the hyphens in icon names, so arrow right finds arrow-right. Every icon can be added with Enter or Space. See How to add and color icons.

Fixes

  • When TeleportHQ can't be reached while the app starts, the editor and dashboard show "We can't reach TeleportHQ right now" with Retry, instead of signing you out.
  • A collaborator's Help Center panel lists the project's articles. It showed none.
  • Collaborators opening a project no longer get the Choose your plugins window. Only the person who created the project sees it, and only while the project is still empty.
  • When an invitation email can't be sent, TeleportHQ says so: the person is invited and can sign in with that address, and you're told to let them know yourself. An account deletion or edit request whose email fails shows "We couldn't send the email" instead of saying it was sent.
  • The Props panel no longer freezes when you select a setting no element uses.
  • Deleting a button's text setting puts the text back on the button.
